1) Secondary:
Oral / Essay / Email Topics Discussion
Oral comprises 25%, Essay writing comprises 20% and email writing comprises 10% of the total marks in the CL ‘O’ Level Examination. For HCL, oral comprises 20% while Essay writing comprises 30% and email writing comprises 10% of the total marks.
As such, these topics will be intensively covered. Some important topics are aging population, racial harmony, healthy lifestyle, science and technology in the modern society, social media, arts & culture, education and public transport system. Newspaper articles will be used for case studies and to develop critical thinking. Notes with good phrases and keywords on various topics will be given.
Comprehension
Students will be taught answering skills for various question types, such as character analysis, comparing questions, the use of PEEL (Point, Elaboration, Example, Link) in opinion-based questions.
Stimulus-based Writing
Comics, photos or video clips are used to arouse interest and promote creative thinking. Students will write short paragraphs based on the stimulus used.
2) Primary:
Composition
Structured guidance will be given in writing of composition. Students will be taught to apply good phrases in their writing.
Oral
Discussion on various oral topics. Usage of important keywords and good phrases on various topics will be covered.
Vocabulary in textbooks
This will be intensively covered to help students do well in paper 2.
Comprehension
Students will be taught answering skills for various question types.
